Roberta Lynn “Berta” (nee:  Cory) Matelski, age 45, of Kenosha, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at her residence, with her mother and father at her side.

Born in Petaluma, CA on August 16, 1971, she was the daughter of Robert V. and Linda J. (Stefanuto) Cory.  She attended Petaluma High School.  She moved from CA to our area in 1997.

On November 8, 1998 in Kenosha, she was united in marriage to Kenneth X. Matelski.

Berta was a dedicated wait person with Fireside Restaurant for 17 years.

She was baptized and received her first communion at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Petaluma, CA.

Berta was a lifelong San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan and she proudly wore her team colors.   She was an avid animal lover and fantastic babysitter.  Berta had an unconditional love for her children and nothing meant more to her than her family.  She was a fantastic babysitter and was known as “Mom” to many.  Berta always gave of herself to others before herself.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Matelski; her parents, Robert and Linda Cory; her children, Brooke, Julia and Brandon Matelski; her sister, Suzette A. (Brett) Ransom; her nephews, Jack and Ryan Ransom; many loving extended family and friends; and her canine buddies, Leo and Max.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, an uncle and a nephew.

In accordance with Berta’s wishes, “She is going home to her beloved Lake Tahoe”.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, the staff of Aurora Hospital and everyone who supported her and her family with their love and support.

Berta would like to extend a special message to all women.  “Please remember to do your monthly self-exams and have periodical exams with your physicians”.  It can save your life!
