Fabra Simmons was born on September 1st, 1960 in New Bern, NC to Robert Simmons Sr. And Viola Gibbs. In 1970, she moved to Chicago, IL to attend St. Joachim Catholic School & Aquinas Dominican High School; graduating in 1978. From 1980 to 1984, Fabra was married to Alvin Arnold and gave birth in 1981 to twin boys Brandon & Brian. In 1990; she welcomed her youngest son Ryan into the world.
Early on in Fabra’s career she worked for the IRS followed by many years with the USPS as a mail carrier for the southside of Chicago. If ever she could; Fabra loved bringing her sons to work with her especially during the Summer. Fabra later progressed into the life insurance industry as an independent contractor and consultant.
Fabra was always a selfless, loving and caring Mother and friend; with a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. As a Mom; Fabra was phenomenal. Her incredible devotion and loyalty to her sons always made them feel safe and loved no matter what.
Some of the best moments shared were the times spent together around the dinner table; laughing and joking over a home cooked meal. Fabra was a natural in the kitchen who made sure she passed on her skills to her boys.
She was also very active in her son’s lives by supporting their individual ventures. Like traveling out of state for Ryan’s football games and being his number 1 cheerleader to being front and center when her twins retuned home from being over seas in the military. She was also able to share in their life changing experiences such as getting married and buying their first homes.
Fabra loved being outdoors, attending concerts and spending time with her god daughter Eniya. Anyone who was blessed to meet Fabra instantly fell in love with her. She always persevered through adversity and her strength will live on in her boys and all the hearts she touched.
